Personality: Daniel is a tease and a flirt by nature, inherently charming and good at easing people into a sense of trust and familiarity. But then, nothing is as it seems when it comes to the illusionist. He also has a side that lives for the thrill of danger and a challenge.
History: Daniel was born in Paris, the illegitimate child of a French ballerina and an American socialite playboy. Never acknowledged by his father, Daniel spent the first ten years of his life growing up in primarily France, occasionally traveling with his mother when she visited other countries for performances. Then, in the Spring of 1988, Daniel's mother was killed in a car crash and, hearing about the tragedy, his father whisked him away to America to live.
Rather than taking time to get to know his son, Lionel Ryder still refused to acknowledge Daniel publicly and instead sent him away to a boarding school to finish up his education. Over the years, Daniel discovered his skill with sleight of hand and his predilection for a racing pulse and the rush of adrenaline that came with getting away with something he shouldn't.
As soon as he was of legal age, Daniel left school to study illusions and magic wherever he could, many times teaching himself and creating his own tricks. He also spent a great deal of time training his body and persuing a sport that sould give him the thrill and challenge he enjoyed so much. Years later finds him a successful, in-demand magician performing sold out shows. At least publicly. Privately, Daniel uses his skill in the French-founded sport of le parkour, or freerunning, to pull off impossible heists just for the thrill of it. Recently, Daniel found himself the focus of the attention of business mogul Cole English. Cole is the first person Daniel's met that has thrilled him more than his magic or his "hobby", and he's thrown himself full tilt into their rapidly growing relationship.
